One of the most emblematic projects of the International Research Centre TNT in collaboration with El Vacie (oldest shanty town in Europe close to TNT centre), la Casa de Bernarda Alba continues its tour performing at Villa de Molina Theatre in Molina de Segura on 5th February 2016.
The show, which premièred on the 8th November 2009 is a unique experiment of social integration in Spain: nine illiterate Roma women take to the stage for the first time.
On the 11th of February it received, by the hand of Andalusia’s Ministry of Culture, the CanalSur Award as Sensational Event of the Season, sharing the spotlight with the other winners: Martirio, Alejandro Sanz, Lola Dueñas, Macaco and Kiti Manver.
In 2014, the jury of the Emilio Castelar Prize for the Defense of Freedom and People’s Progresses, recognized TNT and the women collective from El Vacie the special prize of the category Education and Social Commitment, recognizing their merits for integration against the social exclusion through the culture. It was the first time that this prize was given to a Theatre Project and it is the tenth received by our performance, among which the prestigoius Award of European Gypsy Community from the Ministry of Culture in 2010.
The performance staging had a great expectancy. Most of televisions and means of communications reported this historical event, as a unique experience for social integration in Spain.
Laura García Lorca –niece of the author and president of Fundación Lorca- said that the piece was one among the most touching and closest to Lorca performance she has ever seen.
